Do you remember still
the games we played on the hill?
When you were just four years old.
The fun days in the park
when we played until near dark,
When you were just five years old.
Remember when you found
A small quail egg on the ground,
In grade one, and six years old.
You kept it warm in hay,
Took it to school the next day,
All excited when it hatched.
You showed it your friends, Shay,
But then the chick ran away,
And at that moment school bells rang.
You grieved for many a day
for the baby quail gone astray.
I did my best to ease your pain.
This big event in your life
showed that in calm or in strife,
You have love and empathy.
A few more years have come to pass,
now a young lady with charm and class!
I am so proud to share your life.
