My Cat

My cat woke me up last night
To tell me about his plight.
Seems that he fell off a tree
And landed in foul debris.

He asked to sleep on my bed,
Which made me shake my head.
He was muddy as can be
And did not smell right to me.

I started to fill the tub
And fetched a brush for a rub,
Here kitty, kitty I said,
Let’s clean you up before bed.

As I got back to my room
He streaked by me in a zoom,
Across the living room floor
And swiftly out the back door.
