Poems by E. Schalm

But One Short Day

It was yesterday
I was a child,
Eager to explore,
free to run wild.

It was yesterday
I was a man
Reaching for the stars,
Searching life’s plan.

It was yesterday
I pondered time.
How quickly it passed
Like fading rime.

Today these pangs in
My mind replay,
Was this my lifetime
But one short day?
